So, who was the most famous pilot of all time? What did he do? 

The answer is: Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen whose nickname was the Red Baron. Charles Scultz used him in Peanuts comic strips. Manfred was a German fighter pilot during World War I. He is considered the ace-of-aces – credited with 80 air combat victories. He is quite possibly the most widely-known fighter pilot of all time, and has been the subject of many books and films.
