The industry used to use silverplate for banks like this; however, that has changed and now these banks have a nickel finish. The advantage of the nickel finish is that it does’t tarnish like the silverplate did. It is a very strong material, and if taken care of properly, this classic shiny piggy bank can last for years and years.
