As a birder I was with the Seattle Audubon on a field trip to the Olympic Peninsula. We located a large group of Widgeons (which is a duck) – perhaps, a thousand or so. They appeared to be American Widgeons, with a bit of green on its head. Then, one of the group found one Eurasian Widgeon which has a bit of yellow on its head. We all had our scopes or binoculars on the Eurasian Widgeon – so happy to have seen one. When a bald eagle came swooping off a nearby tree and plucked that ONE Eurasian from the flock. Shocked! You bet, we couldn’t believe it! That’s a fairly large animal for an eagle. Eagle went back to the tree and proceeded to dispense with the Widgeon. And, that’s an eagle story!
With the pose of this Eagle, wonder what it will be eating?
The core of the statue is resin and has been electroplated with pewter for a lasting finish. The wooden base is only 3-1/2 inches wide which limits the size of a plaque to 3 inch. Several lines of text are possible.
