Knight & Horse – Charging With Lancer

This knight statue features an awesome suit of armor – on both the knight and on the horse. It’s amazing how a thousand years ago it was possible to have such an amazing suit of armor for the horse and knight. This was expensive.

The lancer is the large weapon featured as the horse races forward. You “feel” lots of motion. 

Have you ever seen a jousting contest at a medieval festival? It’s worth watching! Today’s jousting is based on the military use of the lance by heavy cavalry during the Middle Ages. The sport of jousting began and remained popular with the nobility in parts of Europe. Today’s medieval festivals re-create this long ago sport.
