The first dachshund was developed to smell, chase and flush out badgers and other animals burrowed underground. Then a smaller, miniature dachshund was bred to hunt rabbits and other small animals. Because of its loose skin the Dachshund can even tunnel to reach the underground animal. The dachshund likes to DIG!
