Buffalo Statue – Aka American Bison

The American Bison is also called the American Buffalo. This animal is very American, very the Wild West. When you think of the Old West, don’t you think of Indians and Buffalo? With 60 million buffalo roaming the range, they were plentiful; however, mankind got involved, diseases occurred and the population of buffalo had sunk to 541, just one hundred years later. Pretty sad.

Thankfully, the downtrend has stopped and today there are a few more….but nothing like the population that grazed our Western range. Even though the population of buffalo is slim, it IS our National Mammal. buffaloes typically weigh 1,000 to 2,000 lbs and the males are larger.

This buffalo statue is 7 inches both long and high.  It is a great rendition.  The facial expression makes it look like this buffalo is thinking.
